Biography: ประวัติ.......

Gummy, a charismatic singer with a burning passion for R&B music stepped into the local pop scene with her impressive debut song "When You Come Back" in 2003. Later, she completely changed her image with another hit song "Better Friends Than Lovers", that vividly manifested the singer's rich emotions. It took seven years for her to release her own album after she was acquainted with an entertainment agency, cherishing a dream of becoming a singer. The entertainment agency, M-Boat Entertainment was the same agency that made Whee Sung, now one of the best R&B solo artists around into a star. Influenced by her mother who was an enthusiastic music lover, Gummy began to learn the piano at the tender age of six. If she hadn't become a singer, she would have become a pianist.

If Wheesung is best male R&B singer in Korea, the most talented female singer is Gummy. Before making her debut, Gummy worked as Wheesung’s vocal trainer. With nobody to compare her vocal abilities, Gummy released her first album in February 2003. Gummy participated in a live album work in 2003 in which, popular newcomers such as Whee Sung, Se7en and Big Mama, gathered together to present past hits, upcoming songs from their own albums, and also other well-known songs sung by other artists to their fans. Their joint live concert "The Color of the Soul Train' has now become an annual nation-wide tour, drawing enthusiastic support and love from music fans across the nation. Gumy also sang the "You are My Hero" which, was the theme song to a Korean animated film "Hammerboy", which opened in summer 2004.

In September 2004, by presenting Gummy’s 2nd album by highlighting her outstanding vocal abilities, Gummy dominated 2004 , winning number one spots in top ten music charts and of course receiving an award for Top artist award of 2004.
Gummy is currently known as the most talented female vocal, and is popular among men and women, establishing a wide range of fan base. She is recognized by fans all over the world to be the "Queen of Soul".

Currently, we are preparing Gummy’s unplugged album to be released in April.
As you all already know, the definition of unplugged music is one that does not use any electrical instruments and use only analog instruments. Such examples can be see through Babyface, Eric Clapton, Mariah Carey and also Alicia Key’s recent album and many other famous artists’ unplugged albums which was loved by the mainstream. You can say that Song Chang Shik and Yoon Hyung Ju’s guitar music from the 70s is also an example of unplugged music… ^^

Unlike the music made by midi and computer, unplugged music is a music performed by a person, and so to make the best quality album, there should be the best musicians behind it. And so since last November, I searched for the finest players… As a result, Gummy’s album will be mainly arranged by bass player Nathan East and will include the works of drum Ricky Lawson/ Guitar Michael Thompson / Organ Tim Carmon/ Piano Jeff Babko / Percussion Luis Conte.

Last month I went to the States with Gummy to see them record. During those four days at the recording studio, Gummy cried everyday. I asked her why and she answered that it was because she was happy. (Is this something that men don’t understand???)

The songs in this album are selected from Gummy’s first, second, third albums, 12 songs in total which are already known to the public. Gummy is a singer with quite a lot of hits.. hehe Since the original songs have been rearranged to unplugged, it will bring out a totally different feeling. With the album release in April, we are also planning Gummy’s unplugged concert.
